1939, "First Reader in Italian" by Leonard Covello. Mr. Covello was head of the department of Italian and First Assistant in Modern Languages. Published by the MacMillan Company. The book has black and white photographs throughout of places in Italy.

The book preface reads: "the aim of this book is to place in the hands of beginners of study of Italian a series of simple prose passages, usually in story form taken wholly or in part from experiences familiar to the students either as actual classroom situations or outside the school walls."

It is 323 pages long and in fair antique condition. The inside of the book is stamped, "Passaic Valley High School" and there is a name written on the inside. The hardback cover has some tears and staining, the pages are yellowed. Cover is a nice emerald green for a terrific display book.
